I just got a message from Turtle, drummer of <Pure... wait, I need to back up a bit.

Last night was the finals of the Ironwood Studios Battle of the Bands. Verdigris (our band) was eliminated in the first round. At that time it was obvious that it was a fan-battle: the band with the largest crowd presence would win. We were the best band that night, but one of the other bands had a huge quantity of friends & fans there to show support... but I'm getting off topic.

Last night was the finals. <Pure and Half Dexter were two of the four bands in the finals. Both of which are friends' bands. The battle took place at the Ballard Firehouse and ran from 8pm until... I don't know. I had to leave at 1am to take Al home and catch a ferry. We only caught the opener of <Pure, but it was one HELL of an opening song. If the rest of their set was like that, and the votes reflected the band's talent and not just crowd presence, then they were sure to win.

And, as a matter of fact, they did win. That was the message, along with thanks for coming out and why the hell am I such a stranger and shit like that. I really wish I could have seen the whole thing...

...but I remember a rumor that I can see the whole thing, on DVD or VHS... I'll have to call Don Tortielli back to get an order in on that action.

Where does the time go?

We don't even own the townhouse yet, and already we're having the time-oppressive things crop up that our homeowner friends are constantly talking about.

The carpet color. It's "Stone Washed". They were going to put in "Philidelphia Toast" which is apparently some sort of brownish yellow, based on the color-scheme that was being implemented. Any of you who know Hyz and I know that we're not really "warm" people. Yellow would simply not suit us.

At least it wasn't three-inch hot-ping shag...

Hi. My birthday is tomorrow. Are you ready?

Today, so far, has been quite interesting. Hyz and I went to our Real Estate Agent and made an offer on the townhouse that we would like to call home. The meeting took about an hour and a half, which was longer than I had guessed. After that, she and I went to Osaka for sushi & teriyaki lunch, and then she went to work. As I had the day off, I went to run a couple of errands.

Since my drivers license expires tomorrow, I needed to get it renewed, so this morning I shaved and did other maintenance that I don't usually do. That and I figured I ought to make a decent impression at our Real Estate Agent meeting. But, before I came back to Poulsbo, I decided to get my hair cut.

And not just a trim. I got it whacked. (I can see Crankydoodle gasping already.)

My hair no longer goes down to my shoulderblades. No longer will my bangs easily reach my nipples. (Did I say nipples?) And no longer will it be held back in a ponytail that slowly rips each and every strand of hair from my head. I don't need to go prematurely bald, you know...

Now my bangs, when wet, reach my lips. Dry, my hair bounces around my cheek level, and is very soft and luxuriant. I'd forgotten how sexy my hair truly is. It has a lot more body too.

As you can tell, this is a pretty big deal for me. I've been wanting it short for a while now. I'm not sure if I'll let it grow back out or keep it this length. I like it long, but I don't like taking fistfuls out of my head each day. Let's just hope Hyz still likes it, since she's going to see it in about 30m.

So, then I went to get my driver's license renewed. This picture sucks. It's much better than my previous photo, but still sucks. Honestly, can't they fucking reshoot a picture to at least make you look decent? Or ask approval?

Well, I think XP is about done with its update process, and that's fine with me since I need to get to the place with the stuff to meet Hyz anyway.

I really don't have anything interesting to say. I just felt like updating my blog since it's been a while since I last did it.

Hyz & I are looking for a house. We already went thru the pre-approval process. All's well on that side of things. Seems we can get just about anything we want - within our own budget perception. You know, since they're willing to give us more than we think we could fork out monthly.

Hopefully this weekend we'll go househunting and sit down with an agent or two.

What do you see when you close your eyes?
